Love the sound of the thunder tonight. The sky's were blue and the thunder roared through.

I just wish I fertilized today

For a Texas newbie. How do you know when a Tornado is coming?

Hopefully you have a NOAA weather alert radio. It will go off. Mine has been going off all night. Pretty good about telling you when the storm cell is approaching and when it should hit your part of town.
Otherwise keep a radio on or the TV (Fox is good for weather updates)

If you start getting spun around really, really fast, a tornado is already there .

Listening to the news, or having a weather radio, are really probably the best way to tell. Weather radio can drive ya nuts, though .

Rain is coming through here right now...apparently in the possible path of hail. We need a new roof anyway, I think .

Radio Shack has good ones. You don't need the fancy combo's and the cheap ones will break in less then a year. I got a good one (about $100) several years ago. Plugs in with a battery backup.

It can drive ya crazy though going off every 10-15 minutes about severe thunderstorms coming your way but it does give me some peace of mind.

It looks like you folks in Williamson County got hammered. We're getting some high winds and 1/4 inch hail down here in South Austin along Slaughter Creek.

Two hours ago the lightning bugs showed up outside. I love spring time in South Texas.

Screw the utility bill. I'm running the AC and watching these storms.

Mike: do you know how much rain you picked up in CP? We're getting some pretty good rain and it looks even more impressive with the flash flood warning.

How is everybody near Jarrell and Hutto? Earlier tonight law enforcement was reporting some funnels.

Tomorrow I am going to a NWS storm watch class in San Marcos in the afternoon. I love spring in South Texas.

hahhah I love hearing about it there....were supposed to be getting 6+ inches tomorrow up in MN... hahah I hate it here (they SAY it will be more north then where we are) I hope so! Just Wednsday we had it up to almost 80 and tonight is 38 and has been raining for the last two days... Our lightning bugs don't come out till July here (right around the 4th). (this year won't be till August, man maybe never the way its going)
Anyway I wanted to ask, do you guys have sirens out there for warnings for the tornados?? Or when your talking about getting the radios its for people way out in the neck of the woods? Just wondering?

No sirens around except for maybe in the older parts of downtown Pflugerville/Round Rock. Suburbs are too sprawled out for them to be heard. I've seen them when I drive through but don't know if they are still operational.

Best bet is a weather alert radio - that you can't miss hearing.
