Good Ethnic Food
What is the opinion of Indian and Thai restaurants in the Round Rock/ Austin area? What are the great places, and places to beware of ?

You should go to Yelp.com-- they have a lot of recommendations, etc...

I second trying Yelp.com - they're a great resource. You might want to try KaProw, though. (On IH35.)

For Indian in Round Rock:
Chola - Nice sit down restaurant. I advise going for dinner and ordering off the menu instead of the lunch buffet if you want the best food.
Teji's - More of a carryout indian grocery store. Awesome and cheap.
Bombay Express (near Parmer/I-35): Great fast food vegetarian Indian. You can get a whole meal for about $6 of homemade style food. The daily special is your best bet here.

I like Swad at Rundberg/Lamar for south Indian vegetarian... ditto Yelp! as a good place for recommendations.

I like how the word "ethnic," is so different in different parts of the country. It makes me smile.

If you're downtown, the Clay Pit is great. They have a cheap lunch buffet that's very tasty, and a nice dinner service. Very nice environment to eat in, too.
Also, Thai Tara is a good downtown lunch.

I am an indian (south) and vegetarian. i lived in austin for 7 years and moved to NJ. These are my fav places, which taste more like food in india
Madras Pavilion (Burnet road) - Vegetarian (love their chakrapongali which is made only on friday buffets)
Chola - Round Rock. They have both veg and non-veg. but went only during weekends so dont know about weekday. i liked their buffet and order menu stuff.
Swad - Gujarati style North indian food - Vegetarian - good food
Teji's - Dont like it much but it is punjabi food with very limited options.
