Dripping Springs - Pflugerville?
Hi everyone..
My husband and I just returned home to Michigan from a trip to Austin.
He interviewed for several teaching jobs.. and basically was offered a job everywhere.. He's an amazing teacher.
Question... Are there any affordable areas in Dripping Springs? By affordable I mean on a teacher's salary.. 150k - 180k. I looked and couldn't really find anything..but maybe I'm missing something or being too picky. We have a 4 year old and a 16 yr old..we want a community with a pool.
We know about buda, kyle etc.. just want to live in the district he teaches in.
Second question.. he is also going be offered a job at Hendrickson in Pflugerville.. lots of new homes nearby.. like that..
If you had to choose between the two.. which would you pick??? just thought I'd get some input.
My 16 yr old has wanted to go to UT since she was in 6th grade so that's part of the reason for the move.
Thanks for your help...

Pflugerville!
Dripping Springs is a neat place, but let me put my plug in for P'ville and especially for Hendrickson High School.
I have a daughter at HHS, and am so impressed with the school and the leadership. As you have a teenager, that will be important to you also. Our kids (we also have a middle schooler) have had such good experiences in P'ville schools.
P'ville may not have the most attractive scenery in the Central Texas area, but it still retains a lot of its smalll-town charm (especially in the "old" town area).

I think Pflugerville is a great area, that's experiencing a lot of growth as Austin gets more densely populated. Previously, it was all farmland, so the trees are newer and there are less hills than other areas. Also, there wasn't much in the way of shopping... but that is all changing. It has good schools, and is afforable... so it gets my vote!!
Dripping springs is OUT THERE.....

10-15 minutes from any shopping you'd ever need is OUT THERE?
Don't think so...

I love Dripping Springs, but it is still considered "out there". Of course in another 10 years, it will be close by - especially when they are finished with the construction at the Y. There is very little selection in that price range though.
Pflugerville would get my vote in your price range and if your son wanted to live at home for the first year of college, you would be much closer in Pflugerville.

Everyone has their definition of "out there". 10-15 minutes to shopping is close by my standards.

Yep, I'd agree. Once upon a time, Lakeway, Bee Cave, 2222/620 and Cedar Park were "out there" too.
