The homes in Stone Oak are Milburn/DR Horton. Lots of people are happy with that builder but I've never liked them because when we first moved to Austin we rented in a Milburn neighborhood and the homes seemed so cheaply built.

This neighborhood would be nice...walking distance to the park by the river.

I want to thank everyone who has replied to my post. I love this forum, so many good and helpful people.

Texastea- I really like that house and it is definately in the running. Were you saying this house is by the builder you don't like?

Another forumite sent me a listing for a house in Taylor that is a beautiful, well kept 1926 bungalow.

I tend to like old (I love that bungalow), but my sister has talked me into looking at newer homes as well(1996 is considerably newer relatively speaking), so that one is on the list to watch. I wish I could go down there NOW. Waiting until next month may kill me.

austinalice is on a distinguished road
At your price range and what you're looking for, you're not going to find anything in Austin. Anything within a 15-20 minute drive of downtown is very quickly becoming gentrified with lowest prices for a 1 bedroom starting in the high 100,000s. I seriously doubt you'd find what you're looking for in your range in the "big" suburbs (Round Rock and Pflugerville). Try looking east: Manor's not bad, but once again, it's becoming popular. Hutto's far out there if you're actually aiming for Austin.

You can still find something very nice and relatively new in the 170-180K range in RR, Pflugerville, Cedar Park, etc. Austinhomesearch.com confirms this. Also, if you don't mind older and in need of updating you can still be IN TOWN for $180K in places like Walnut Crossing, areas near Parmer/Mopac, Anderson Mill to the NW, etc. Also S Austin in 78749 and 78745.

No, Parkview Estates was developed by builders I like. I did an austinhomesearch.com search and put in Parkview Estates and Georgetown. That home is the most expensive...others go as low as the 140's. I'm glad you like it. I want that deck!
