Not that easy to generalize....I'm in Austin proper with PEC for electric and private trash pick up and sub-metered water service.
In other words, YMMV and all that

You’ll love it here!

It really depends on the age of the home & building quality - typically the newer the home the “greener” and more efficient it will be. You might want to also steer clear of city of Georgetown, they’re having some issues with energy costs right now 😬.

If you have natural gas and don’t have a pool then I’d say $250-550 as a ballpark number.

Where are you moving from? What are the costs like there?

In case you decide to go with living outside the city:

I live in a semi-rural small community near Driftwood south of Austin. We are on a septic system, have a community well with private water management and use Pedernales Electric Coop for electricity. We live on one acre in a 2200 sq. foot 2-story home with two HVAC systems, up and down.

Water: $53 month (native plant landscaping - very little outdoor watering necessary)
Elec.: $135 month (downstairs and upstairs thermostats set at 68-72 and 70-74 respectively, year-round)
Gas Stovetop on propane: $20 every three months
Phone: No landline - cell service from Cellular at $75 month/2 phones
Cable TV: FRAKKIN' RIDICULOUS!!! Spectrum at $170/month for internet and cable - and nothing worth watching on TV!
Trash: $70 every 3 months

AR was part of Austin before the first house was built. Austin knows where to get tax revenue

I tell renters coming to the area to budget $0.10 to $0.15 per month per square foot as a starting point. So $200-$300/mo for a 2,000 sqft home. Then add more if you like your A/C below 78 degrees, add more if the home is pre-2000s.

Also that for 3 or three months in the hot summer it may be $300-$400 total, but will also be $200 or less during the Fall/Spring crossover months when you run neither heat or A/C a whole lot.

My highest gas bill past 12 months was $70. Highest electric+water, etc with COA was about $239. I keep my heat at 68 and my A/C at 78-80. So I'm generally below my rule of thumb numbers.

Steve

Well, it has been a while since I looked, so....off to look....

2,400 sf 2-story 1999 built house. AC at 76 in summer. Two adults, two kids.
Total average CoA bill (electric, water, wastewater, garbage, drainage, street service, clean community) for last 12 months
$263

Gas water heating/heating/cooking. I don't have the bills online, but was around $30/month on average a few years back. Heater at 72 in the winter, give or take.

Random other information:
4 months with electric over $150
5 months with electric below $75

1 month with water over $65 ($160!)
8 months under $30

Max bill - $530 last August (the $160 water, $278 for electric)
Min bill - $170 last February ($22 for water, $60 for electric)

Edit:
Comparing to Steve's metric - $0.11/sf averaged over the year, varying from 0.07 to 0.22 over the year

cut the cord. For the price of one month of cable you can buy 4-5 seasons of your favorite shows. When you buy a season, as soon as a new episode is aired, it is available to watch.

the only thing missing is sports. You can use an antenna but can also subscribe to sling and other streaming services that are equivalent to basic cable for around 20/month. You will also need internet at about 70/month

Have a co-worker that lives rural (SW of Wimberley a ways) and I could do w/o the cable easily, but he has not access to hi-speed internet and that would be annoying :/. Best he can do is satellite.
