Default Parks & other info in Smithville/Bastrop

Hello everyone. I am 26, have a 7 yr old son and am thinking of moving to either Smithville or Bastrop within the next year and would like some input about both towns from people on here who reside in either town and or know a good bit about them. We have a park here in Rusk where I am but it is pointless to take my son there to play with other children because none are ever there, so I was wondering... are children at the parks in both these towns quite frequently or are they usually empty most of the time? What is there for children to do in both towns? I am also a home health attendant and would like to know if there are a good bit of these jobs in the area? Are there any good things for young adults to do? I am single so I would like to be able to make new friends and what not.. I do also Homeschool my son so I'm not really worried about the school ratings, but would like to be where he could interact more with children than he gets to here, no one around here ever takes there children out to do anything and I don't want to move to another town where everyone does the same. Any input and info is greatly appreciated.

Thanks, Melissa

It's pretty outdoorsy around here. Every time I take my daughter to a park there are always kids around. Every time we've gone to Bastrop to the State Park, I've seen lots of kids.

love roses: I want to thank you for your reply. I like that you see kids around everytime you go to the park with your daughter. That's a change from what my son and I get to see here. My mother watches him while I work & since he's homeschooled he completes all or at least most of his school work in the mornings before I got to work at 12. so then he has free time for play and my mother hates taking him to the park while she has him cause there are no kids there, & this is even after 3pm when school gets out, it's the same on the weekends, no kids... I know there are plenty in this town, just not out and about I guess. Anyway, thanks
