Yes, an inspector is definitely a must-have. I've have one currently going through our inspections and he's caught a few minor issuses, which is understandable. Nothing is perfect. KB Home has been very responsive to my requests. I noticed that my tub was slightly crooked and they had that fixed the very next day. It's important to be involved with the building process, considering you are putting down a good chunk of change.

KB had wonderful customer service when I had a KB home. However, customer service and a quality home are two different things. Be careful in your decision.

The subflooring upstairs was down right pitiful. as I walked across the room I could see items shaking on my dresser. BTW, I only weight 155 pounds. I was very happy when it sold.
Sorry, this is a little off topic. But, you are happy with quality of Standard Pacific. I really loved the Collingsworth Model in Saginaw we looked at in the Fort Worth Area. I didn't realize they build down in Austin, so when we go there maybe we can go check out some of their communities.

We just put our home on the market in Deer Creek. Standard Pacific, less than two years. Let me know if you want detail and I can send offline.

Oh yea, the quality of my Standard Pacific is great. Of course I can only compare it to a KB home b/c I have only lived in those two. I have a few friends with Newmark homes, and we spend lots of time in them. SP seems almost the same as a Newmark to me. I have no complaints at all.

Good to know. I was disappointed to find that the floor plan I loved in Saginaw was not available here in Austin. Boo...

We have lived for 8 years in the Lakeline oaks subdivision. Close to schools, shopping and freeway -- 2 miles from mall. Grocery, walmart, target all within 5mins drive. My house is 2 miles from the freeway - I work in the arboretum area too. Around 7-7:30 in the morning it takes me 15 minutes to get to work. About 20 mins around 5:30 - more lights on the way back.
