Visiting Austin for a day, looking for things to do....
I will be visiting Austin for a day, a Saturday in May to be specific. i will be staying in the Hilton Garden Inn , Downtown Austin. Looking for some great places to eat for lunch and dinner. Maybe a Lounge or Bar to enjoy a drink and listen to some live music (jazz, country or Acoustic alternative rock)(no heavy metal or rap please, no offense just not my type of music) . Also some locations to visit in between the 3 meals of the day that you could say would be worth a visit, etc.

For lunch, go to Austin Java.
For dinner go to Trulucks, Eddie V's, Roaring Fork, or Kenichi is great for Sushi.
Live music... You could try the continental club or Cedar Street. Music during the week is easy. On a Saturday, unless you are going to ticketed show, it is a little trickier. If you want music on a Saturday night, your best bet is probably one of those two though.

If you want to listen to country, by all means, go to the Broken Spoke (south of downtown on South Lamar).
You could have a chicken fried steak there, too, just to complete the experience.

i keep waiting for someone else to suggest this......a visit to austin requires a dip in barton springs pool......and don't rule that out if you think your appearance in a swimsuit is less than what you would like. there are all kinds of folk there, some young, some old, some skinny some fat......everyone is welcome
go at the end of your afternoon, spend an hour or two people watching, experiencing the jewel of the city, then head back to your hotel for happy hour.
