Moving my family and clothing company to Austin!
We are currently located in the Bay Area but are moving our entire company and family to Austin this summer. We feel that Austin is the perfect place to really immerse ourselves in an artistic and beautiful place.
Currently we are looking for artists for our new line. We are also working with artists to create a line of shirts that represent the 2008 presidential election. So far we have received AMAZING designs with the message of hope and change as well as Obama's smiling face.
Thriving Ink is a clothing company that uses all 100% original art from artists all over the world to create our t-shirts. The difference between our brand and others is that we put each artist that we work with at the forefront of our brand. We feel that they deserve to be in the spotlight.
TI works with 10 artists at once, and we rotate new artists in every couple of months, and retire artists accordingly. We make sure that each artist is different in style, technique, and medium, therefore providing a vast variety of styles to choose from. Because of this, we are able to cater to the streets, metro, punk athlete, music lover, etc..
Each artist is allowed to create their own line of t-shirts under our brand. They have full reign in the art that they create for us. They are not asked to put our name, branding, or logo in any of their art, because then it would not be original nor reflect each artists personal style.
A lot of the artists that we work with do art in their spare time, but would love to be an artist full time. This is one of our many goals with the brand. By putting the artists name out there so directly, we are trying to create more and more opportunities for them to do more of what they love; ART. If another company sees their work and loves it, we encourage them to contact our artist. Many of our artists have already contracted lots of work rooting from the work they have done for us. We pride ourselves in this.
Trends will fade in and out, but art is original always. We do not go with trends, if we see an artist that we like, we will pick them up, no matter what the trend.
Staying fresh is another thing that is key in our brand. Producing new designs every month is a staple of ours.
So check us out on the web at Thriving Ink - Urban Clothing, Streetwear, Metro Sportwear and if you know any artists who may be interested i working with us have them contact me at jenelled@thrivingink.com!

If you want to sell a lot of shirts, blankets, apparel, etc., dedicate a portion of your "art" to The University of Texas and the Longhorn Sports, especially Football, and especially during the late Summer/Fall. I'm sure I don't have to tell you but The University of Texas is consistently in the Top 2 or 3 in terms of licensing/royalty revenue because of all the merchandise that is sold, all around the world. In Austin, it's naturally huge and if you can get creative with your designs/artwork and have the Longhorns incorporated, I think your business will thrive. Don't try to cheat the University out of their share, but I'd really like to see some different and more creative t-shirts, shorts, apparel, etc. with the Longhorns. I'm not sure if this something you do or would do, but it's just an idea.

Those are some pretty heavy and intense T-shirts! I remember when t-shirts were the pinnacle of 70's sleeze, the whole "Im with stupid" thing. Now, it is so much more grand! Great stuff, though I still think you should carry an "I'm with stupid" one as well, just for old times sake!

Those are some really nice shirts. I'd buy some I'm pretty sure my husband would too, as they look just like his style.
