Default Need Traffic / commute info from Cedar Park to intersect of Mo-pac and 183 - Plus light rail question...

Can anyone who lives up in Cedar Park (around the Twin Creeks subdivision) give me some accurate info about traffic and commute times? We like what we see up there in the way of houses and schools, but are really worried about the commute for hubby's job - roughly Mopac and 183 or Steck.

Also, is the light rail really going to start up in August 2008 as planned? Anyone know about when the different stations - ideally close to the above location - be opened? Anyone think this will really alleviate traffic?

Thanks!

I live in Deer Creek and drive to 183 and 360 (close to Mopac). The drive is not bad at all. I can get to work in about a half hour.

Thank you SOOOO much for answering! This is the info I have been looking for. Can I ask what time you leave your house in the morning and what about the return trip home?

Thanks again!

Looks like there isn't alot of interest in your new train by this thread. I don't live there, but I do know Austin didn't build a light rail line. Its a commuter line from some town north of the city to downtown with a few stops on the way, It will run a few times each week day in each direction. You can pull it on your computer and read about it. Just pull up the austin bus company, I can't think of the name of it. It has the entire story, the stations and date of completion.

There is a lot of buzz with the train going in up here in Leander where it stops and goes to downtown. There is a rail stop somewhere in the Lakeline area east of 183. I know the stop is somewhere in the Kramer/Howard Braker lane area and it goes through IBM which is were Mr works. on a good day it takes him about 15 mins to get to work (Sat morning no traffic, usually about 20-25 mins to get there. Leaves about 730 to get there. Good luck

I leave around 7:20is, but drive though elementary traffic at the entrance and also drop off my son at preschool. I still get to work usually around 8:15. Going home I leave at 5 and get home around 5:45, but that's after picking up kids at two schools. If I didn't pick them up, I could be home by 5:30. It's really a pretty easy drive.

Just keep in mind these are norms. Throw some rain in there or an accident and driving times can increase exponentially.
