Shadow Pointe - Round Rock - Williamson
Hi,
i am looking for a home in Shadow Pointe community.
Builder is Kimball Hill Homes. I have friends living in Teravista community.
But i prefer Shadow Pointe as it is close to my kids private school.
Can anyone let me know about the ups and downs of Shadow Pointe?
thanks in advance,
Vali

I am very familiar with Round Rock (lived in Georgetown for 15 years, and most of my best friends were in Round Rock.)
Here's what I know. Kimball Hill is considered a good builder. My best friend used them for her home in Lake Forest and they were wonderful. Great quality and service.
That side of Round Rock has seen explosive growth in the past 5 years and Gattis School road is very congested at all times of the day. Might take you 20 minutes to go 3 miles. Also with the addition of the outlet malls and Ikea, that area is good for resale, but once again those things have brought more traffic. Since you have kids I would check the RSO lists because there seem to be a few concentrated areas (near Kensington Place) that have a lot of them.
I would personally steer clear of TeraVista because for some reason (unknown to me) their property taxes are some of the highest in Round Rock.

I live just off Gattis, and use that road everyday. Your statement is completely inaccurate, even in peak driving times.

I have to respectfully stand by my feelings about traffic over there.
I worked at Dell Computer for many years and took Gattis School road every day. My best friend lives at the end of Gattis School and have visited her as recently as 2 months ago and the traffic still seemed bad to me.
I advise the original poster to drive it for herself and see, I guess.

I live off Via Sonoma and use Gattis School Road every morning and afternoon. It's not congested - closely packed or crowded. It's never taken me 20 minutes to go 3 miles.

Shadow Pointe is further west on Gattis than both Via Sonoma (Rose Red) and Forest Creek (Jenbar), so I think the time spent on Gattis would be even less for the op. Or you can pretty much bipass a big chunk of Gattis altogether and take Doublecreek (which I think turns into Meister) to to the SH 45 toll road if you're heading to parts south or west.

Also, AW Grimes goes all the way through now - from 45 to 79.
Traffic really is not bad at all in this area - I can go pick my husband up to Dell and get back to our home in less than 20 mins. That's probably, an 8 mile in both directions, trip.
