Country Western Bar/Dance Club
Are there any good country western bars or dance clubs in the Austin area?

I second The Broken Spoke.
I'm sure there are others, but why would you not go to the Spoke?

I would third (!?) the Broken Spoke. I'd never been anywhere near a Country & Western club before I went there a few weeks ago. The few well turned out couples of a certain age, Texas two-steppin' around the dancefloor were a sight to behold! We were there on the proprietor's (James White) birthday and he laid on free birthday cake for the patrons. What a gent!
By the way its also very kid friendly.

Gruene Hall is a great place, but it is at least a 45 minute drive from Austin. They book some great bands.

If you don't mind driving a few miles outside of Austin, check out Club 21 in Uhland, Tx. Club 21 Dancehall
Great BIG dance floor, live music on Friday's and Saturday's, good burgers, cheap cold beer, BYOL. All ages, but very few little kids. Majority of people range in age from 18-75. It's a pretty cool place to go dancing or at least watch those that do.

There's a place in Spicewood as well, never been there though. Giddy Ups down on Manchaca / FM 1626 has some country bands too.
