Question Im Relocating to Texas

My Family From New York To Texas,what Do I Do???
WELL, HERE GOES...

I want to relocate my family to Austin texas..

To start off I havn't worked in almost 3 years,I've been collecting Ny Compensation all this time..(I had back surgery),As I have recovered about 90% and am ready to start work, Its also the end of my case and am finally getting the settlement, And can finally move on with our lives.

So now, we really want to go somewhere beautiful where you get your moneys' worth..Since it isn't enough to buy a jet but definately to put some for a down payment on a home.

Now; I don't have a job yet, but am a professional Truck Driver and have a CDL B-P which i'll be upgrading soon to a CDL A with tanker and hazmat endorsements..
(I want to have everything I need to get the best opportunity for work.)

I have no clue where even to start looking for a job,but still thats the tip of the iceberg...

My Credit isn't that good(never bankrupt) but I will be paying off soon,the couple of cards I forgot about.

Now;

This is what I'm hoping to be answered by writing this;

1-How do I go about getting the requirements of getting a first time homeowners loan? Where should I go(call)?

2-What should I expect in interest rates?

3-Are there grants for first time buyers? Do I qualify?

4-How much will I be able to borrow?

5-Am I even asking the right questions?

Im sure that once these questions get answered I'll have more...

I'm not going to directly answer your questions, because I think you're asking the wrong ones.

You're planning on moving to Austin, but I suspect you've never been there, right? Austin is not NY.

You want to buy a house, but you're unfamiliar with the different parts of Austin and the surrounding towns, right?

Your credit is really damaged, but it's about to be fixed, right?

First off you should plan on renting, not buying. This will give you plenty of time to familiarize yourself with the area. What if you buy a house on the far west side, and then find a job on the east side, long commute or a quick sale.

Paying off those old debts will make them quickly fade on your credit report, the older they are the less they'll count against you.

The longer you're on the job the more you'll earn and the better your chances for gettting a "good" loan.

Just my advice.

Why did you post this again? You got lots of answers on your previous duplicate post that you posted just a couple of days ago.

Are these not pretty personal items to air in a public forum? I mean, I wouldn't speak of these things to most people I know....it's amazing what personal things people air in internet forums. I call it the "Stranger on a plane" scenario. People you have no chance of hooking up with socially become a fly on the wall for airing out personal things. After we get off the plane, we continue on as usual, keeping to ourselves with those we have to interact with on a daily basis, including neighbors and even some family. I think the web is the classic "strangers on a plane" scenario. Just anonymous enough to feel comfortable opening up to those who are at eternal arms length, just far enough away to have no fear of a real flesh and blood human interaction of judgement. I presume some of us will prefer to interact with AI, as it effectively replicates human chat interaction, and becomes a preferred way of web contact. No fear of messy fsh and blood human encounters then. No judging, or fear of rejection. Everything will be "safe"! So sad, isn't it? Excuse me while I leave my computer to interact with real beings at the bike trail.....

THL, as you troll this forum for leads in your real estate biz, why would this bother you? Do you really think that most people on here are honest,
actually looking for advice, and such? Do you have your own referral base, large enough from years of selling that you don't have to spend half the day on here sorting out viable RE leads from the obvious red herring, pulling your leg ones? I would just move on here and hunt for the next lead, and not let this multiple poster bother you too much. Continue trolling, and good luck......I'm sure there's lots of money to be made trolling on here for RE biz this summer.....

Boy, cranky today, aren't we? Nope, not trolling for business in particular (it says real estate agent under my name because that's a forum requirement that I abide by - like my Australian Cattledog, I'm all about the roolz). I've been participating on forums of a variety of kinds for years longer than I've been an agent, for pleasure, because I love talking to people from all over and the internet makes it easier than it used to be - consider it an addiction, if you will. It also passes the time when I'm working on the computer doing other things (running MLS searches, etc.) and waiting for the computer to finish whatever it's doing before I can go on to the next step.

I do acknowledge that I do find this particular forum useful in my career, because here I get to see more of the kinds of concerns that folks who are moving have and that helps me be more effective - think of it as a class of sorts, only taught by the consumers themselves.

And, yes, I do think that most folks (emphasis on most) on here and other forums are honest and, if they ask questions, are actually looking for answers. I take it you don't?
