Cool Cedar Park vs Round Rock

I need info on these two areas.

- Commute to downtown (very important)
- School District (very important as well)
- Preschools
- Nearby shopping
- Sports for kids (especially soccer)
- Nice neighborhoods
- Things to do
- Family life
- etc.

I appreciate your responses!

Commute would be similar to downtown from both, but maybe a tad closer from Cedar Park.

Both school districts are very good.

Preschools. Both towns have a lot and different varieties.

Both have all sorts of shopping. Cedar Park has Lakeline mall and RR has the outlets.

Both are heavy on sports leagues of many types, including soccer. Football, baseball, basketball, ice skating, equestrian, etc...

Both towns really don't have anything BUT nice neighborhoods. There's really no bad side of the tracks. Paloma Lakes, Teravista, Brushy Creek, Sonoma....those are a few nice ones in RR. Someone else will post more

Things to do....What are your interests? Both have things to do like indoor playnasiums, skating, bowling, movies, sports, outdoor activities, waterways, parks, boating. Round Rock has the Dell Stadium for minor league baseball.

I'd say family life is pretty great in either town. Lots of young families in both areas.

I live in CP. I'd like to add that the lake is very close. I live in Cypress Canyon Vistas and we have a few boat ramps/parks very close to our home. Being close to the lake was one of the main factors in our decision.

IMO, RR feels like Dallas (which isn't for me).

I think both are great. I live in Round Rock but my closest friends here live in Cedar Park. Both are very family friendly, and I think the commute differences are negligible. I personally prefer Round Rock ISD over Leander ISD (the school system for Cedar Park) but there are excellent schools in both.

You will find a great place to live in either.

I like MoPac a lot more than I-35 so I would pick Cedar Park based on that. The Alamo Drafthouse (located in CP) is another pro for me.

But I think both have what you need, so I would look at houses in both places.

That is where I live in between Cedar Park and RR on 1431 and it works out great for us, we enjoy Georgetown also, so like it is so close also.
- Commute to downtown (very important)--on the 35 to DT can be 30-1hr. on Fri. for sure. I would take alternate route, but have no clue how long they take, we are lucky DH has a job 5 min. from home now.
- School District (very important as well)-RR schools are highly rated.
- Preschools-plan ahead to get in a good one for sure.
- Nearby shopping-lots of shopping in both places.
- Sports for kids (especially soccer)- Indoor soccer right on 1431
- Nice neighborhoods-very nice in both, just watch out for areas where mostly rentals and you can tell right away.
- Things to do-Lots of family fun to be had, many moms clubs, groups etc.
Kidevents - Activities for Families and Children in Austin
- Family life-wonderful, we have made so many friend quickly people are so friendly~

I think both are basically the same. Where will you be working? Live closer to that area to reduce your commute.
