I am relocating to Austin (from boston, ma) and we will be moving to steiner ranch. I am looking at my preschool options for my twin girls who will be 3 this summer and 4.5 year old son.
Can anyone give me information about Children's Center in steiner ranch or the new montessori which is supposed to start in the fall? Or what about Children's courtyard nearby? Any information is appreciated. |

Hi there, we too have relocated to a home in Steiner Ranch. I have my 3 year old son on the waiting list for Rising Stars and School in the Hills. I declined to enroll him in the Children Center of Austin just from the reveiws I read on the Steiner Ranch Blog. We are moving in on the 15th of June and I will take a tour of both schools and meet with the directors. I just have to see who wil be able to take him for the coming school year. If you google the name of the schools you will be able to get more info. Good Luck!

Welcome to Austin! I live in Steiner. My daughter goes to Lake Travis United Methodist Church preschool and absolutely LOVES it. We have had nothing but good experiences since she's been there. However, the chances of you getting in for the fall are probably pretty slim.
School in the Hills is opening in the Fall. Because it hasn't opened, there's really no way of knowing how good it will be yet, but a lot of people are really excited about it. It's also a little pricey. I would steer clear of Children's Center. I only know 2 people who sent their kids there, but both of them pulled their kids out. One was because of high turnover (new teachers all the time) and the other because they kept raising prices. As far as Pediatricians go, we love, love, love Dr. Paige Suffredini at Austin Diagnostic Clinic. Her office is about 20 minutes away, but she is completely worth the drive. Hands down, the best doctor I ever had. Paige Suffredini, MD, ADC Pediatrics |

The Children's Courtyard @ Spicewood Springs was great for my kids. My oldest started kinder in 07/08 school year and I just pulled my 4 year old out after 2 years because I couldn't do the hour long drive any longer. We moved but I didn't want to pull him from his friends and teacher because he was so happy there. My oldest was able to write and started reading just prior to starting kinder so I was really happy as he was one of only two in his class that could read. I have heard mixed reviews about the Riverplace Children's Courtyard. Good luck to you three kids so close in age my hat goes off to you!

Hi, I'm also relocating to Austin (from Seattle) with my husband and our 4-year old daughter. We are looking for a preschool for my daughter. We enrolled her in Primrose at Four Point, but I didn't get a good feeling on first day. Does anyone have experience with Primorse at Four Point? Is it a good school? Thank you!!

We did primrose at river place for exactly three hours about 18 months ago and did not return. Could have been an anomaly, but as I watched the initial class the teacher was over the top rude with the kids and even heard her tell one he was being stupid. Mind you, this is while I was sitting there. And as I sat there, I then heard fairly strong voices and yelling at kids in the surrounding rooms, so needless to say we decided not to proceed.
As an asie, over a year ago they had a corporal punioshment complaint(its on the dps website) where a teacher "taped" a child to a chair. |
