With the European football (soccer, sorry ) in full swing, I wondered if there was much interest in little league style soccer in Austin?

I'm originally from England and feel I'll miss kicking a football around so would love to teach/train if there are any clubs that could use the help?

This is sort of unrelated, but since you're a Brit...since there is a huge Indian population here, cricket is played someplaces in Central Austin. I'm sure there's a league. We stopped one night to watch them play...I don't remember where though...somewhere off Guadalupe or Duval near the Triangle? And we're about to get a semi-pro soccer team, aren't we? Someone else could answer to that.

We play soccer with the YMCA and they are always looking for volunteer coaches.

WAYA (West Austin Youth Association) is a great kids' rec league with year around kid's soccer at all levels, as well as basketball, American football, lacrosse, gymnastics and baseball. My husband has coached soccer there for years and had an awesome time. Welcome to WAYA!

Easy,

I also moved here recently from England and am similarly searching for an outlet for my very rusty football skills. Austin is that kind of place, being surrounded by so many people undertaking healthy sporting endeavours is quite inspiring. I've been looking for an adult rec.team, without success so far but I continue to look. If you stumble across anything I'd be very grateful if you dropped me a direct mail to let me know.

Ttfn.

There is a ton of soccer in Austin. They have a lot of $$ and effectively own all the public parks with fields. Just search for austin soccer and you will find a bunch of leagues.

I'm pretty sure I've seen some adult soccer games in Round Rock at Old Settlers Park, but have no idea about what group they are with.

There is an adult soccer league that plays in River Place every Sunday morning, I believe. As far as junior leagues, also google "CC United" and "neighborhood Sports Austin".
