I just read in the Statesman that the City of Austin decided NOT to build Water Treatment Plant 4 basically across the canyon from our backyard. yay, since we are only one of about 5 houses that would be affected by the plant. There's not much safety in such small numbers! On the sad side, they are choosing to build at the Bull Creek site. Both sites had endangered species concerns (here, the black tipped vireo bird; in Bull Creek, it's the Jollyville salamander). Neither choice was ideal, unfortunately. Hopefully they can figure out a way to still protect the salamander.
