Lots of hummingbirds, but the fireflys (fireflies?) are a little on the scarce side these days. I think they prefer more moisture, and even in a good year there aren't as many FFs as down on the coast. Certain areas in town will get quite a few, though, usually near the creeks and thicker vegetation...same as the mosquitos .

We have fireflies, hummingbirds and so far no real mosquitos to speak of. We are near a creek in E. RR.
We do have these teensy (I mean it, seriously small) little whitish yellow bugs that itch and are SUPER annoying though. Anyone??

We have fireflies just about every year, but we have a creek running through our property, too, so even in a slow year like this one, we have them there.

I put up a feeder in my upstairs porch (where I spend most of my outside time) here at my new home. I have lots of humming birds. They make me so happy!

Is anyone east of I-35 by more than a few blocks, getting hummingbird visits?
I know I'm in the minority here, no pun intended, but I'm out by the Expo center.

When I was there last August, and hung out waiting for the SoCo bridge bats that never came, there were a TON of fireflies. It was worth it just for that.

I'm in Hutto and that's pretty far east of I 35. We get hummingbirds out here as well as bats.

That's it, we're going to the bridge one of these nights. I've even learned, from this forum, thanks everyone, 2nd street is where us 'older' folks hang out, which is good, as 6th has never appealed to me. IIRC, 2nd and South Congress is close to the bat bridge.

Fourth Street is good too. Try Saba Blue Water Grill for drinks and small plates. They have a great weekday happy hour.
