hummingbirds in Austin?
My husband wanted me to ask if you guys have hummingbirds there in Austin. Apparently it's a deal breaker if you don't
I KNOW you have fireflies, which I'm very excited about!

Yes we do. They start appearing in April and stay until October/November.
I have 5-6 right now that frequent my back yard and fight over the feeders.

Awesome! We have a bunch in our front & back yards, and they are so much fun to watch. I'm so glad we won't have to miss them.

Hmmmm.
Good to know, as we had a feeder out for about a month, but brought it in because it attracted nothing but bees.
Might have to try, again.
Lightning bugs! I wish. Both of these critters must be boycotting the east side of town. We both really miss lightning bugs.

We had them at our house in South Austin, and we have them out here in the country outside of Jarrell. Lovely things. Helps if you have a feeder, or plants that attract them, of course.

We have seen humming birds around, yes And we saw SO many fireflies last year, I guess it was our welcoming committee, but something is different this year, maybe not enough rain, and we haven't seen so many of them, but yes, there are some of both.

We used to have a hummingbird feeder. No hummingbirds. We planted Mexican Sage & Canna (I think it's called) and that vine that has the bell-shaped flowers and BOOM! Tons of hummingbirds!

Absolutely we have hummingbirds. Infact, this area is part of migration pattern for the hummingbirds. Rockport (down at the coast) has an annual festival for the hummingbirds and it is so amazing to be down there during that time because you see hundreds of hummingbirds feeding and resting before they track the rest of the way to their resting spot for the winter. I believe the festival is in September. If you love hummingbirds it is a wonderful time to be in Rockport.
