Not all places do this, but when there's a lifeguard on duty, they sometimes take a break for 5 minutes every hour. This gives them a needed break and parents an "excuse" to have their kids go potty. Granted, parent's should have to make excuses for that, but sadly some do.
Swim diapers are great. The yucky thought is they're not 100% waterproof. They just "contain" most of the more serious output. |

It sounds like a series of cooincidences to me. My non potty trained guys are always in swim diapers but just like with normal diapers sometimes there can be accidents and parents can't do anything to prepare for that kind of eventuality. With any kind of tummy related illness, the first incident can happen anywhere. It sounds great that your pool's management is so on top of things! AND keep in mind that these parents you are criticizing in some cases could have tried to hide the accident but instead reported it.
PS. On the distracted mom thing... Please just tell the distracted mom. She may have the best intentions but there are many reasons why she may be extra distracted/stressed/preoccupied that particular day (death in family?), or perhaps like a friend of mine, have as yet undiagnosed severe ADHD. Even if she is a legitimately uncaring mom, she will at least have been alerted to the fact that others are keeping an eye on her. I see it as, if my children were doing something terrible or dangerous behind my back I would want to know. Even if it means my getting embarrassed in any particular situation. Plus..the child's safety is more important than an adult's feelings - yours in the telling or theirs in the hearing it Where it comes up the most often is the child who is beating up another behind the parent's back. Mine have never been beating other ones up, but they have on occasion done life defying stunts behind me ![]() Last edited by Indigoblue; 07-23-2008 at 02:17 PM. |

It's just so icky. When I heard about this happening in Steiner Ranch I vowed never to use the pools. So I never did. It's just something that gives me the willies and I gave up pool use (and still paid the $&)@($ exorbitant HOA fees to pay for the pools!)

on the plus side urine is sterile which means it is 'cleaner' than saliva or just about anything else you touch or eat.

Your not alone! Every public pool is like that IMHO. So get your own pool built
