Default suggestions for temp/staffing agencies?

Hey everyone,

I graduated in May but due to this bad economy, I haven't found any jobs yet, so I was thinking about utilizing a temp/staffing agency. So, does anyone have any suggestions for which temp agencies worked (or didn't work) for you?

For example, appleone, todays, burnett, manpower, kelly, randstand, etc?

I'm looking for more office-type jobs right now.

I have experience on the other side - from an employment perspective and I think all the ones listed, plus maybe Adecco and Evins would work for you. A lot of the agencies specialize in different fields but clerical is pretty much spread out across most of the major companies. No rule says you have to use just one. Most companies don't list the same opening with multiple agencies, so go sign up with as many as you can.

I used to manage a staffing agency here in Austin. You may want to add Spherion to your list. I would stay away from Evins and Manpower.

I don't know who has the gov't account right now. But I would also check out the IRS - they hire a lot of temp employees and have pretty flexible schedules.

No, sorry, I am in the private sector. There seems to be a secret code to getting government jobs in Austin. I think a lot of it is word of mouth and family and friends of the employed. There's not a central repository for State jobs either - each agency has its own listings. The only thing I can think of is the Texas Worforce Commission.
