They said all the Northern Houston Counties are going to expect lots of wind and rain. I was watching something on one of the news stations (24 hr. coverage of this) showing pictures from Clear Lake and Galveston, so guess I'll eat Just a tiny bit of crow on how much water is going over the sea wall right now But the water in the CL area isn't more than i've ever seen there. I called my mom and she was outside wrestling with some boards

The best thing would be if it turns west, misses a dead-center hit on Houston, and then dumps a healthy portion of rain on Central Texas. I'm not holding my breath, though. Don't be surprised if you wake up tomorrow and it looks exactly like it does today, just windier.

I thought it was kind of funny going shopping today and finding the store sold out on milk, eggs, water, etc. Also over heard people saying that the gas pumps were selling out!! Am I foolish to think they are over-reacting? Stock up if you are on the coast, but here?! Come on...

I hear that a lot of the gas shortages are due to evacuees filling-up once they get here, so that they can get back home. Some are filling up gas cans (or so my wife noticed yesterday) so that they will have gas when they go back.

I thought of that option as something that made sense. Ok

I filled all my gas tanks today. Why not? I was out running errands, below half a tank. Called my wife, she was 1/4 tank, told her to fill up also.

I'd rather be over-prepared and ready than complacent and underprepared.

Is it necesary? Probably not. But there is no downside or inconveniece involved with having a full tank.

Someone on another thread said the same thing it seems as if everyone makes french toast in a disaster.
I am rather upset that Arkansas will get more rain than Austin will out of Ike...how is that fair? We have storms coming at us from the East and the West yet still not a lot of rain.
Guess I'll turn the sprinkler system back on.... Maybe we should all wash the car and then we will see if we get rain.

Just to be on the safe side I'm keeping my cats inside, don't want to have to round them up if the weather gets nasty, but their yowling is driving me crazy! Personally, I don't think we will have much of anything, maybe some rain, I remember with Rita, it was right after Katrina, people still had images of that fresh in their minds, so panic buying set in, couldn't find bottled water anywhere!

I did some shopping today, mostly bottled water, refilled perscriptions, batteries, cat food, kitty litter, all the important stuff!
