DR Horton "Craftsman" style homes...
I LOVE these homes, but I would love to hear what other people think. Always gotta consider resale when purchasing a home
Thanks

For better or worse, the average Texan likes brick facade boxes. Neotraditional designs not in the urban core will probably be harder to resell. Builders like them because all the hardiplank can be put up in a single day.

The craftsman styly is becoming more and more popular because of all the CA implants. People are scared that they will have to replace all the "wood" siding, but most don't realize that it's not real wood, and as soon as they understand what the siding is and how long it lasts, and doesn't welcome termites, people love the look.

We lived in one of these neighborhoods for 3 years, and while we loved the style of the house and the price, you have to watch out for the upkeep -- we've noticed that the paint is seriously faded on many homes in our old neighborhood so the area is starting to lose its charm. Otherwise, DR Horton was great!

Thanks for your help, I wonder if this style will become more popular and have a better resale value. Does anyone have any thoughts on Cedar Park Town Center? Good? Bad? Indifferent?

I actually just bought a DR Horton craftsman-style house in Plum Creek in Kyle. I absolutely love it. The whole neighborhood gives off a 1950's Pleasantville vibe and the houses really magnify that. I love the alleys and rear-entry detached garages. The house seems very well built, as our inspector confirmed prior to the purchase.
