But overall, TW brings the suck!/ the info on the shows is pathetic. I want U-verse but it is unavailible in 78734. Spending too much for their package atm, have Roadrunner/Cable/phone. I would ditch the phone as I never use it, but I have to have it for the security system. I WANT MORE HD. is it worth looking into just keeping the internet/phone portion. and getting a dish for the tele s?
I heart it is the other way around. TW is charging its subscribers a small fee every month to carry the NBC channel and KXAN wanted a share of that profit. TW refused and so KXAN decided not to renew their contract. I side with KXAN on this one.

Here is some info I found:

So why the riff between KXAN and Time Warner Cable? Is it about the analog-TV switchover, or bandwidth issues?

Our dispute is about fair and equitable treatment. Time Warner charges its cable subscribers a fee to provide KXAN-TV in its channel line-up. It also charges its cable subscribers a fee to provide cable networks, which cable subscribers may or may not watch. Time Warner shares that fee with the cable networks; however, it does not share that fee with us. In essence, it takes our signal for free and resells it for a profit.

Time Warner’s agreement to carry KXAN on its cable system will expire on October 2, 2008 and they have been unresponsive to our attempts to reach a new long-term agreement or a contract extension for both our analog and high-definition signals.

Found here Austinist: KXAN and Time Warner Cable Dispute: Q&A with Eric Lassberg, General Manager @ KXAN

'm thinking about switching from TWC and this NBC is the icing on the cake. We have the 3 deal special; cable, internet and phone. They are about to lose yet another customer and we will have to find other options for all of those services. We actually watch a few NBC shows and I don't pay for cable to have the "privilege" of watching those shows online.

Does anyone have Dish Network? I'm not a huge sports nut, so I'm wondering if that's a better option than Direct TV. I've heard their HD DVR is awesome.

I take back everything I said about U-Verse. It is BY FAR the worst service I have ever had. I just sat around today ALL DAY waiting for them to come to fix my signal (many shows are unwatchable because of glitches). No one EVER CAME! When I called to ask why, I was told they'd "definitely" be there in less than an hour. 2 hours later when I called to find out why no one came, I was put on hold for 10 minutes and then hung up on. When I called back again, I was told "You've probably figured it out by now that no one's coming. Sorry about that." and that was it!

I'm either going back to DirecTV or the Dish network. I never had any problems with DirecTV.

For those of you with satellite, what internet provider are you using?

I'm not really happy with TW over the KXAN situation but I"m not sure what route I could go to get internet and tv with 2 HD-DVR's for better than the $115 I'm paying right now with TW. Any thoughts?

I looked a month or so ago, and if you extrapolate out the costs of Dish and Direct, they are within a dollar or so a month of each other (I was looking at switching from Dish to Direct at the time). One has a higher initial set up but lower monthly or add on fees, one has a better intro rate but it ramps up more, etc., etc.

I have Dish and have no problems...we did lose about 20 minutes this past year due to weather (missed a few minutes each of several DVRed shows). We did sign up for the golden handcuffs a few years ago and bundled all our services (mobile, land, internet, TV) and have a pretty good price. As for the cost of the individual services, I would have to check, but Inet is ~$35 and TV is about $50. We have the middle of the road package on TV and the highest non-commercial interent. Not sure what it will be when our 3 year contract runs out, though, either. No movie or add on channels (HBO, etc.).
