Default Relocating to Austin--Looking for Diverse Area

Hi, I have a family of four (including me) that will be moving to Austin because my job is transferring me along with some of my coworkers there. I was a transfer to UT in my junior year and graduated from there my senior year, but really didn't get a great feel on the housing and attractions besides parties and friends while I was there. Since my family is now relocating, we want to find a house for around $290k-360k, in a nice suburban area with a good school district (my kids are 7th grade and 5th grade). My wife and I also want to be close to some shopping and entertainment, like restaurants and movie theaters as well. I know there have been countless posts on here asking about suburban Austin as well, and I have read them, but I'm really looking for a suburban area around Austin where my family and I won't be the only African America family for ten miles... if you get what I'm saying. We want a diverse area. Any help would be great. Thank you.

Edit: Also, are the Lake Travis areas and Georgetown considered suburban Austin?

In that price range, you should be able to find something in most of the suburban areas close to shopping, entertainment, etc...Your widest options will probably be in the Leander School District, and its a very diverse area.

We live in Teravista (in Round Rock) and it is quite diverse (at least our area is) Out of 12 homes on our street 4 are African American, 1 is Asian, 2 are Hispanic, and 5 are Caucasian. You can find a house in Teravista from the high $100's to over $500,000. You need to remember that property taxes in TX are high, so when thinking about the price of home make sure you factor them in. Our home is for sale, I could pass the info on to you if you'd like

You can also find something in Austin itself. No need to go to the suburbs. Crestview, Allandale, Hancock, French Place, parts of Hyde Park, Highland Hills, Zilker, Barton Hills.
