Question Recommendations for pediatricians in San Marcos, Buda, Kyle, South Austin???

We're seeking:
A personable, easy-going pediatrician who takes the time to know their patients! Has a genuine desire to get to the bottom of children's health issues, and respects parents' views and concerns. Has flexible hours, and not so long of a wait time in the office. (I realize it's hard to find ALL of these traits, but hey, if you know of a ped that closely fits the bill-- by all means share!)

We are NOT seeking:
A doctor in favor of over-prescribing, over-medicating; a doctor who tends to be overzealous in their approach to "finding answers"... just because my insurance covers a great deal of procedures, tests, etc. doesn't mean my child should unnecessarily become a "guinea pig".

I went to ARC on Brodie Ln in SW Austin and had a good experience there with several doctors in their practice. I will say that my favorite was the PA, Chris Crocker. Amazing doctor and man. He was practical, had always read all the latest research I brought in, encouraged me to bring it in, etc. Has great insight into raising children. The docs on staff that I liked the best were Julia DeWette, Becky Mouser and Dr. Esparza. I also like ARC because you have great weekend options with the after hours clinic on Farwest. If the Brodie clinic is full that day, South 1st is very close and they have a great staff as well. That being said, one day I had a resident come in during my appt. She was AMAZING and her name was Anna Lincoln. She has a practice in Buda. Had it not been so far from my house I would have switched. Really great lady.

Will definitely 2nd Mouser and Crocker at ARC. Crocker also has the ability to 'exude' calm around children, which can totally put your child at ease.

As for as over-medicating, they definitely looked for feedback from the parent when there was a 'either-or' type situation (in our case, multiple cases of ear inflammation/infection). They usually gave us several 'scenarios' and talked us through them, and, for better or worse, usually let us decide what we though was best (when either was 'okay'). They also let you know when they though something was really necessary .
