Default Looking For Condo/Townhome Complex Like This:

Just an example. Looking for nicer complexes in the Austin area built like that with garages. Most of the condos I see are they super massive buildings downtown that only investors can afford, or old apartment complexes that have been converted.

Can anyone make some suggestions? Names and locations of the complexes?

That looks like a typical Austin apartment complex of the "A Class" status.

Curious as to why the primary and only criteria you would seek help with is the exterior cosmetic appearance of a condo complex.

What is your desired price, location, beds/baths, etc. What commuting needs do you have, do you need to be near good schools, the airport, your job, family, etc?

The outward appearance would fall way down the list after more important attributes of a dwelling are considered, so I'm not sure anyone hear can help you zero in on something without more details.

Also, unless you have a set of needs for which a condo is a superior fit than a house (rare), condos are very poor investments compared to single family homes. Why are you looking for a condo specifically, and how did you arrive at that decision?

Good Luck and welcome to Austin.

Steve

I am actually looking for a condo to rent, main reason is I have a pit bull, and the only apartment complexes that allow them here are dumps. I am hoping a private owner renting out their condo may let me keep the dog.

I just happen to prefer apartments that are of that style. They don't have to be that color or anything exact like that.

There's some similar to that off Southwest Parkway, and some in Round Rock off 360, near the HEB, just off the top of my head. But you may have issues with the pit bull, due to homeowner's insurance carriers.

Not saying it's right, just saying that it's a potential issue you'll need to plan for.

Your most productive effort will be to call an apartment locator service. Google "Austin Apartment Locator" and find an experienced locator who knows where the dog friendly apartments are.

Most landlords won't accept Pit Bulls because most insurnace companies forbid them. You are left with a very small pool of candidate properties, of which you don't have the luxury of being picky about asthetics. That's the price you pay, unfortunately, for owning a Pit Bull. You've made yourself into an unwanted, undesireable tenant because of your choice in pets and the social stigma that comes with Pit Bulls.

Good Luck

Steve

Hrm.. With a pit bull I don't think you will find a place like that.... Mueller Airport has some new developments that look similar to that, but your rental situations will be limited with a pit...

I full well know the complications of owning a pit bull, I am in the process of cleaning up my credit and doing the things I need to do to buy my own house so i don't have to deal with this BS. There are a couple insurance companies that will work with pit owners, there are some requirements though.

Until then, I must rent.

Right on... Good luck with that. I know a lot of rentals also have breed restrictions. You may be better off trying rentals.com vs the MLS search b/c I don't think you will have much luck renting from a home listed in the MLS.

Like you said, there are some insurance companies that will work with pit bull owners, and that's great for your renter's insurance. However, the property owner's insurance of the person renting the home more than likely will not cover it, so they wouldn't be able to rent to you.

Thats assuming the homeowner even bothers reporting something like that to their insurance company.
