Default 38th and Medical pkwy

Hi there,

My wife and I are over orange county so I decided to relocate to the beautiufl city of Austin. I flew out last week to interview at a few companies and I actually landed a job. I'm a graphic artist. I'll be working off 38th and medical. I also found a place just one mile west of my new job. It's a 1/1 duplex for $550. I love it even though it is probably too small for my wife, 11 month old daughter, 6 month old pug, and myself. We are trying to save money so that we can hopefully buy a home in the near future. I also want to start up a clothing company/boutique. That is my passion, I used to work at paul frank for 2 years designing tee shirt graphics. Anyway, does anyone know of any other places up for rent that may be just a little bit more for possibly second room in that immediate area? I realize it's pricey due to all of the students. But maybe someone can help me out. Thank you all for all of your help on this. I am so excited to live in such a RAD town!!

Kevin

I live around this area and prices are very high. It's not really a student area though. It's very popular because of it's proximity to the hospitals and other businesses in the area. It is by the way a great place to live.

There are some apartments that are within walking distance to your job. They aren't fancy or anything and I have no idea what they cost but I don't think they are outrageous. Call them and ask:

If you don't find anything in the immediate area, I would try the Far West part of town. There are tons of apartments there. From your 38th and Medical location you would drive west and enter Mopac (Loop 1) and then head north to the Far West exit (third one up from 35th). You can also avoid Mopac altogether when you figure out the area. It's no more than a five or ten minute drive if there are no backups on Mopac. And like I said, you can avoid Mopac altogether.

Have you looked at Craigslist? I found one example for you in the Far West area:

Hope this helps! Definitely check out Le Med apartments. There's nothing like walking to work (and I'm talking a five minute walk).

Let me know if you need more help. I know the area very well.
