Dang it! We are in town tomorrow and I was hoping to escape the cold for a few days! Are things back to normal yet?

Yes, but it's still cool enough to wear a jacket.

Could it have been sleet in some places and snow in others? I was just coming out of the Alamo theater on S. Lamar when it hit. It looked a little like snow (being white), but it bounced. Snow doesn't bounce! Then at work everyone was talking about the "snow."

"What snow? That was sleet or hail." I said. They all looked at me like I was crazy!

It was snow, but yes, it was mixed with sleet and hail. It consisted of more ice than snow.

My son and I went out to the porch to see and that's exactly what I was saying..that snow didn't bounce or make pinging noises as it hit the windows

If it bounces or pings, then it's hail or sleet. I know--I live in the snow belt! It's possible that it could have been snowing in one part of Austin and sleeting in another.

It was snowing here in Hutto, but there was sleet mixed in with it. I lived in Denver for 5 years, so know what snow looks like My coworker (from Washington State) was debating whether it was "real" snow like the kind that crunches under your feet and is real light and soft and we agreed it wasn't quite that kind. But, in Colorado, you get the snow mixed with sleet sometimes as well.
