Whats a good cheap place to go to a happy hour with my girlfriend here in Austin? She prefers a Mexican restaurant.

Azul has excellent food and drinks (margaritas, mexican martinis are great but they have every kind of drink), but it's in a strip mall near the highway so atmosphere, IMO, is lacking... a great secret place to get some good food, though.

Malaga on 2nd street (new location) has a really nice atmosphere, but not exactly cheap (although the happy hour prices are a lot cheaper than the regular ones). Your GF might like tapas and wine happy hour.

Z-Tejas (either the Arboretum or 6th street location) has 1/2 price happy hour appetizers and $1 off margaritas.. still might not be what you consider cheap, though... maybe Baby Acapulco?

Azul has great food and drinks, Fonda San Miguel quality for about a quarter to a third the price. Thus, the "good cheap place" recommendation.

I confess I've only had their Margaritas. That's because I'm VERY picky about my Margaritas and they, and Fonda San Miguel, are the only places I've been thusfar that make them right.
