Where are the Best Food Coops, Organic Groceries/Produce in Austin??
Thinking of relocating to Austin, Organic Fruits and Veggies, Cereals, Grains a must. Are they readily available in the local markets?? Wide Variety?? What kinds do they have? Do they look edible, smell good?? Are there any well stocked Food Coops or Health Food Stores?? Organic Farmers Markets?? I've never been to Austin can you specify good locations?? Without wheels, can I get to them by bus?? Any info anyone can help with would be appreciated. Also, can anyone advise on neighborhoods to stay away from (Really Bad Crime, Drugs,etc..)? I'm trying to find a nice working family or mixed neighborhood (not to many college kids, partys outside, loud musice all night, drinking), good schools, easy access to downtown. Any recommendations?? Thanks.

They are opening a Sunflower Farmers Market in February at William Cannon and Manchaca 78745. There is bus service available in that area also. This is right beside the Whispering Oaks neighborhood. Might be what you are looking for.
check out Sunflower Farmers Market - Grocery Store for a look at a Texas sales flyer to see if this is the kind of store you are looking for.
There is also a Farmers Market on Saturday not very far away in Sunset valley. http://www.sunsetvalleyfarmersmarket.org/

All of the farmers markets are organic. There is Greenlings an organic delivery service and organic choices at local HEB grocery stores, and Wal-Mart too. Wheatsville Food Co-op is in Hyde Park, there are food buying groups, poultry groups, etc. Don't worry, Austin has organic covered. This is where Whole Foods got its start after all.

So where are the farmers' markets? Are there any out to the west, close to Lakeway?

Yes, even Round Rock. It's on East Bagdad, old downtown Round Rock.
