Default Funny, but true!!

Americans' property taxes are rising, while their home values continue to fall.

So true!

Why Does Your Devalued Home Have Such a High Tax Rate?

Linky: Why Does Your Devalued Home Have Such a High Tax Rate? - TIME

I know I been getting ripped being a home-owner!

But it's ok.... in three months I officially will not be an home owner
~ Yes, I did take a loss on my home when I sold it as my property taxes did rise.

More of an issues, I would think, in much older neighborhoods, 'tear-down' areas, and foreclosure properties, at least based on the premise of that article. Although, obviously, if all the home values go down in an area, then the government coffers go down and the make-up money has to come from somewhere.

I am personally kind of hoping our home value will go down (although it hasn't yet) just so I can save on the taxes . So far, our tax rates have not changes appreciably over the years that we have owned the house...the big decrease in 2007(?) put us below where we started.

So are you moving to Denver? Noticed a post of yours in the Denver forum regarding moving there but not sure if you finally committed or not.

I am just waiting for my 2009 assessment to arrive. Trust me, if it doesn't go down, I will be the Travis County Appraisal District's worst nightmare.

I'm already going unless my 2009 assessments are way way lower. Just got a refi and an appraisal to go along with it so I have my ammunition.
