Does anyone work at Best Buy, Lowes, or Home Depot?
I am looking for a part time job at either Best Buy, Lowes, or Home Depot, preferably in the north Austin or Pflugerville area. Does anyone on this forum work for, or know someone who works for one of these companies who can help me land a position there? I'm in the process of purchasing a new home and could use the extra money and employee benefits. Thanks for your help. I can provide a resume if necessary.

pretty sure all those places have application kiosks where you go and apply. doubtful you are even eligible to purchase benefits being a PTE.

I think all those stores hire a very high percentage of PTEs for the explicit purpose of avoiding benefit expenses. Now, if the benefits you are talking about are various purchasing discounts, that may be possible .

I have heard that Home Depot does not offer a general employee discount. That they have only certain times of the year where they do a " friends and family" type thing. That may be worth investigating before deciding where to apply!

It's a no limit 10% off your entire purchase coupon. We were passed one of those a few years ago.

They get a lot of the coupons too. If you know it is coming you can ask most employees if you can be their friend and they will smile and give you a coupon.

Yeah! Good for friends, but sad that employees can't benefit all year long!

I worked for THD corporate here in Austin when I first moved to Texas. There's no employee discount; the only perk we got was a 20% gift card at Christmas. I've heard that they've done away with that as well since I left...
It's a decent company but I wouldn't want to be there in the current economic environment.

You also need to be there for a year before you get any vacation time.
Come to think of it, maybe it wasn't so great after all
