Chinatown has dim sum now also and I hear a lot about it but I don't know if it's really good or they are just really skilled in advertising themselves.

okay Achtung, you caught me, Suzi's is the only chinese place I've been to. btw, I think I saw you on the Plueger Bridge, unless that's another guy in a thong.

The food at Din Ho was good and more authentic than most of the Chinese restaurants in the city. You also might want to look into Coco's Cafe which serves cheap Taiwanese food and boba tea.

Just tried Hunan Something the other on William Cannon near Manchacha. It's pretty mediocre so cross it off your list. Owners were friendly, no ambiance and food was nothing special.

I dont think there is much question that the best chinese food is din ho and asia market (asia cafe).
I havent been to first chinese bbq, but supposedly the owners are from dallas and the din ho people worked for them and stole their menu and took it to austin.
We pretty much eat exclusively at asia cafe now. You can barely call it a restaurant, it is a bunch of tables at the back of a chinese grocery store.
but the triad of sunflower, coco's and din ho in the strip mall by the target is great. And the grocery store is good too.

Pho Van, the Vietnamese Pho/Vermicelli/Sandwich place next to Coco's is also very good. There's also a new banh mi (Viet sandwich) place in that shopping center, but I haven't tried it yet.

I 2nd first Chinese BBQ, very good place..but nothing here compares to the authencity of Chicago's Chinese food. I can't find any cantonese restaurants here. First China on South first was the closest to it and then lately, the food has gone downhill. Nothing is consistent here. Suzi's used to be good but went downhill fast. Chinatown has done the same, food downhill, prices skyrocketed. Wokaholic in Wells Branch is very good though!

My favorite is Pao's Mandarin House in Lakeway. It's a little ride out of town but it's worth it.
