It's hilarious that he would call anywhere East of 35 rascist when it is clearly the most diverse side of the freeway.

Well, I've been thinking about this thread and I decided that perhaps we should give him,(if it really is a him) the benefit of the doubt. Maybe there was an incident of racism that hurt so deeply they are now just dealing with the anger part of it. Evidently he wants to talk around it but not about it...never does say what happened. He made some reference to the police showing up at his first "entry". Whatever that means.
Meh... I'm going with that and let it go. I've got other things to do....like sleep.
Farewell whoever you are and happy trails.

Racism can also be socioeconomically driven. And while I am not saying that racism is not alive and well in Austin...have you ever been to Atlanta? Racism seems dead in Austin when compared to there.

Racism can be all over the place. However, I would suspect that east of 35 it picks up a bit. And yes, I have been to Atlanta and the racism there is out of control. But, Atlanta is one of my favorite areas. The nightmereish traffic, the faceless sprawl, the pollution, the summer humidity, the bugs!! You gotta love it!!

I was going to stay away but just to clarify... Avery Ranch is inside the Austin city limits albeit in Williamson County. Cedar Park borders AR to the north and west. BTW, as subdivisions go, AR is a small town...over 3000 homes at this time--topping out closer to 4000 when all is said and done. From $150k townhouses to north of a half-mil for a very nice 4000k sq ft home on the golf course. Lots of green(brown) space throughout as well as some cave preserves...not too shabby out here in the 'burbs, IMO.
Carry on...

I'll reply once and leave you all to your respective concerns.
Yes, I am male, since you seem skeptical about my gender for some odd reason. My first "entry" (more skepticism ?) was just that: I got the key,
parked in the driveway and entered the house with a few boxes. After a few minutes (less than 5), a Hutto policeman was knocking at the door, staring at me through the door pane. He said the house had been unoccupied and he was "just checking" (...yes...MY "skepticism"). I have never had any person or police personnel "just check" whenever I have
leased or purchased a home within 5 minutes. Have any of you?
There were a number of incidents that occurred, not just one isolated incident, as some imply here. A strange theft of a lawnmover cord put in an excrement covered sheet on top of our garbage was a subtle (?) indication of things amiss. Traffic cop pullovers for flimsy reasons, neighbors acting coldly...perhaps hostile over the mixed-marriage issue and other numerous interactions of an unfriendly nature. I was beginning to feel like an extra in "Deliverance" minus the banjo tunes. And by the way, plans are taking place as we speak to leave Hutto ASAP. I do not care for anyone offering me "directions out of town" after all the redneck BS we put up with out there in the sticks; this is exactly the treatment I am complaining about here. We just ask that people treat us as they would like to be treated. I know, that's a lot to ask from the hayseeds populating Williamson County. When I meet any of those type in Dallas, I'll be very eager to treat them as we were treated in Hutto. I'll never tolerate a redneck hillbilly's ignorance indifferently again; it will now be on my territory and terms and we don't like that BS here.
DO NOT MOVE HERE IF YOU ARE NOT WHITE , FROM AN URBAN AREA OR HAVE ETHNIC FRIENDS, IT WILL BE AN UNPLEASANT STAY IN MY OPINION.

Well, I moved here and so did all my black neighbors (I'm not black), I moved from living in Two urban areas and have many ethnic friends and I am having a very pleasant stay.
The cop probably asked because there had been problems with people breaking into unoccupied homes and they were cracking down on it. I'm white and me and my white yuppie neighbor friend were out walking with our white kids and exploring an as yet unfinished home when the cops pulled up and said someone had called us in for being on the property. They let us go but we did have to answer questions for his report. Maybe some busy body did the same to you. There aren't too many Hutto natives in Hutto. The majority of people here are from other States, so I'm hesitant to call them hayseeds.
I don't know why someone would do the trash can thing, it's just juvenile and doesn't help their cause. I think I'm seriously going to ask every mixed marriage couple I know here if they have the same experiences just so I can have total fact to back up what I say, complete with quotes. They've up to this point said nothing.
And following your train of thought about not treating people as you would like to be treated, you could have just said that there were a few people here giving you a rough time, not attacking every single person who lives here as a redneck, hayseed hater and rascist. Like you won't tolerate ignorance, neither will I tolerate the ignorance in someone calling me a rascist hayseed when that could be no further from the truth. I don't like that kind of BS either.

I'm not talking about Austin downtown, etc.....I know there's a huge liberal movement in Austin. I am specifically concerned about my area, out East of Austin.
Any experiences you'd care to share?
Thanks!

the good ole boy club is alive and well all over the northeastern and northern US also. the kennedys, the mafia, the old money and the leftist elite, so i am not sure what you mean by the good old boys club.
Is it safe for a conservative or repbulican in downtown Austin? probably not, so i think we should clean up our own houses before start throwing stones.
everyplace has good and bad people in it. i am sure there are plenty of good people, republicans dems, etc and democrat doesnt mean they arent racist
