Default Property taxes

hi all a good friend and austin native has told me the property tax rate in Austin(Travis Cty.)is 2.1% of assessed value. Are there lower rates than this in the adjacent counties? Thanx to all....

Actually, in the city of Austin taxes are around 2.7%. They vary a little depending on locations but can be as high as 3.4%. There is a $15,000 homestead exemption and other exemptions for those over 65 and/or disabled.
