I lived off of 32nd and Guadalupe for years, and Ave B and 45th before that. No need for a car, either, when I was on campus or living on Far West. When I moved up to 183/Lamar, I had to use mine all the time...

What seems CRAZY to me is the noise ordinance!! "Live Music Capital Of The World?!?!"

With a noise ordinance?

My band was playing a couple of weeks ago, and we had to be cut short because someone across the street in one of the condos (this was at Club DeVille, outside) complained.

Why would you move to Red River St, across from the Mohawk & Club Deville, and then compain about the music?!?

I love Austin. And I love all the great music here. But, this is one of the biggest disappointments to me.

That may have been the case in the past, but no longer. You'll notice the counties where Houston, Dallas and San Antonio are located are also blue surrounded by red.

Building those condos across the street is one of the dumbest things I've ever seen. No, I take that back: BUYING one of those condos is even dumber. Serves 'em right.

This reminds me of years ago when someone (couldn't have been from around here) built a home overlooking Campbell's Hole, with a big picture window, and then called the police because people were skinnydipping in Campbell's Hole. Which people had been doing, consistently, since the 1880's.

They got a LOT of publicity over that one. Made them look like idiots.

I think the building of apartments and houses overlooking Barton Creek upstream from Barton Springs may have been the beginning of the end.

The funny thing is, you would think that the price point of these condos would suggest that they are built with superior materials(i.e. sound proof). Apparently they are just metal studs and drywall with a brick facade.

Ain't no way I'm spending 300 G on some crap like that...
