Default Hill Country Gay/Lesbian Communities

I found a couple of discusions about this subject on this forum, but they were very old so I thought I would submit it anew. My partner and I are a mature gay couple (in our 50s). We have sold our business and our home in N Texas and are looking for a place to retire in the Hill Country. We would love to find a small bedroom community of Austin or SA, or a small town within 30 minutes of either city with gay or gay friendly couples. We live a quiet life, but would enjoy having like minded friends close by, or accepting straight couples. Any suggestions? Thanks! John

Dripping Springs is a possibility.

I immediately thought of Wimberly, since its a smaller arts-oriented community and I know a couple of gay couples who have retired there...

Thanks for the suggestion. We've been to Wimberley. It's small, quaint and we did get an "artsy, gay" feeling in the small shop area. A few years ago we even looked at a small acreage for building a house. They wanted half a million for about 20 acres. Probably in line with land values at the time, but way more than our budget. It's worth another look.

Thank you for the post....John

Thank you for the reply to my post. I noticed that you are a real estate agent. Do you think DS is a good area "investment" wise? We like that area from Drippinig Springs to Driftwood down to Wimberley.

Thanks again, John

Well, I have no crystal ball, but, yes, I do think that that area is a good investment to the extent that if I didn't already have my 55 acres, I'd seriously consider moving that direction.
