stupid OT Question
what does it mean when you get a new message about your reputation? I have no idea what this is & when I clicked on it, it just brought me to old posts, where there really wasn't information?
Confused??

It means that someone thought your post was helpful and gave you a reputation point. Sometimes the person can also send a personal message so you at least know who gave you the point.

How do you add a personal message to the rep point, now that someone else asked?

Click on the scales at the upper right rather than on the [+] Rate this post positively in the bottom left. It will open up a place where you can type in a (short) comment.

No, they used to have negative reps, but people abused them and so they took them away.
