Austin
My girlfriend and I are thinking of relocating from New York City to Austin in five years after I retire. My sister lives in San Antonio and her's in Dallas, so we would be relatively close to each. I also have a best friend in Houston. We're hoping to visit Austin later this year to get an idea of what Austin is like, but at the moment we have no idea where we should look for a place to live... We're both very active as well as avid tennis players, so we definitely need to be near tennis courts...
We would appreciate any info anyone has to offer us...

I just took the neighboorhood test and answered everything that I had in Westcreek 78749 and it told me to look in North Austin. Not impressed with this test at all.
Major neighborhood names:
North Austin, Wells Branch, Harris Branch
ZIP code to use in MLS searches: 78758, 78753, 78727, 78728
2008 home prices:
Expect a range from $100,000 - $300,000
Rental Prices: Low to mid-range of the market

I'm not impressed either. The survey seems to stop at the borders of Travis County. Dripping does not seem to be included in the potential results.

You could try looking at the houses on World of Tennis Drive!
Yes, a real street. And there is a tennis club I believe. This board is filled with grumpy New Yorkers and other unhappy east coasters, so I hesitate to advise a move at all. Your mileage may vary, however
