It's so frustrating and wallpaper was NOT in style in 2000 when this house was built. It's in the kitchen and all four bathrooms. I'm sure I probably could just paint over it and it will be fine. If 9 years of showers haven't loosened it one bit in the Master, I think it must be PERMANENT!

I just saw in a decorating magazine someone put cork flooring to cover their wall paper conundrum...just a thought...

Someone mentioned a special primer to go over it before painting. Anyonen know what kind of primer would be best?

We are re-doing two bathrooms and had the same problem with the paper coming off of the sheetrock. So I have been covering it with joint compound and then re- texturing.
Two coats of joint compound then texture. A lot of work but looks OK...

The problem is caused because who ever put the wallpaper on did not size (seal) the wall first.
