Default Insurance brokers in Austin -- car / home

Rather than calling a dozen insurance companies for quotes, I'd prefer to use a broker.

Recommendations for reputable companies / brokers, please?

Central, north areas preferred, but really anywhere in town is fine.

Latsabb is on a distinguished road
This is not a broker or anything, but I would really suggest AAA. They are great. You can get their great roadside service for 109 dollars a year, which is the most expensive service they have (you can get it as low as 59 a year I think) and then you can get auto and home insurance through them as well. They have always been the cheapest I could find, often beating even Geico by over 20%.

We were very pleased with the Watkins Ins. Group. They did the shopping and we insured our home and autos with Hartford.(Saving a fair amount over staying with our previous insurer we had in GA.)

I HIGHLY recommend Victor Thompson with the Thompson Insurance Company in Lakeway. He has a lot of integrity and will tell you flat out if he can't give you the best price. 261-3391

I've always used State Farm. I have an "umbrella policy" home, auto and now health through them, so it's not more expensive.

We have and love Farm Bureau. Had it for the last 4 years, beat Allstate completely out of the water. I can DM you our agent if interested!

Thanks for all of your responses! Looks like I will be busy on the phone tomorrow.

Currently I pay $2400/year for a 2008 Honda Accord, which also includes my 20-yr-old son as an occasional driver. (Went from $600/yr to $2400/yr when I added him -- parents beware!). I have one speeding ticket from 2006, and two no-fault accidents. Twice, three years apart, I was sitting at a red light and rear-ended. This has actually happened to me three times, in three different counties, but the 1st one was so long ago it no longer appears on whatever reports they run.

Today I called EZ insurance ($4032/year); AAA ($3100/year) and Geico ($2750).

Let's hope I have better luck with some of these suggestions.

I have a cousin who works for AAA. Even he couldn't touch my current rate with state farm! He said they're almost always a little higher than the competition.

Cabolissa - you should DEFINITELY call Victor Thompson with Farmers (number listed above). Every single person I know who was with State Farm was able to slash their Homeowner rates almost in half with Farmers. State Farm is involved in a lot of litigation right now so their rates are WAY higher than the others.

If you are still looking, I'd suggest Head Insurance Group of Texas. They are located at 13805 Research. My Realtor suggested them when we moved here almost three years ago and they are awesome. Their customer service is great.
