islandsunshine is on a distinguished road
Is there any good places to look for rentals for homes or appts? We have a big dog that we will be moving with. I hope this is not a problem.

There are several places to look. Try statesman.com and austin.craigslist.org. Also, you can google Austin Apartments and come up with a bunch of apartment locators. You can sign up on one or two of the sites to see apartments. This is a free service (they are paid by the apartment complexes).

Dogs are no problem. When we first moved here, we lived at Riata, a huge complex in the Arboretum area (NW Austin), and there were dogs of all sizes there. It is a very nice complex with seven different "villages" of different types of apartments, different prices, etc. Nice pools and a great gym. You might want to check that out as a place to start.

Dazed is on a distinguished road
We have a big dog and had a HARD time finding a place that would accomodated a big dog in our price range. We finally found the Madison at Scofield Park. I was not real happy with the management or the apartment, but at least I got to keep my dog. It's in North Austin, Pflugerville school district.
