Default Looking for the over 40 crowd

Hey, y'all. Been living in Austin for six months and can't seem to find the over 40 crowd. Any suggestions?

I think the over 40 crowd spends time with their families. However, if you are single, there are plenty of groups on Meetup.com that cater to middle aged singles in the area. Check it out. Austin Area over 40 singles adventurers group (Austin, TX) - Meetup.com
Heck, if I were single I'd check it out!

Yes, they either
- Have families
- Have moved on to Houston or Dallas, which seem to have more to do culturally for those 30 years and older

My husband is 42 & I'm 36, and we go to the Alamo Theater, The Mohawk, The Beauty Bar, Room710, The Salvage Vanguard Theater, once we went to Red 7. Or we go out to eat at Curra's, Kerbey Lane, Magnolia Cafe, Guerro's, etc...

I know people who go running or walking at Town Lake. There's always lots of people at the dog park we go to on Riverside. We plan to maybe go dancing on one of the 80s nights at Elysium. There are some cool galleries down on South Congress we so to sometimes, too, and there are always lots of people walking around down there. This past weekend we went on a duck tour and that was pretty fun. This summer we'll probably go to Barton Springs. I think the best way to meet people is to cultivate a hobby. My friend (38) does photograhy and he meets TONS of people all the time simply by saying "Can I take your picture?"

There's lots of stuff to do here for people of all ages.

Try the Continental Club and the Saxon Pub! Lots of folks of all ages but plenty of the over 40 demographic too.

We're 41 and 39 and we've also hit all of those spots. To add to your list, Beerland, Headhunters (only when my friends are playing), Trophy's, Scoot Inn, J Blacks, Lucky Lounge, The Belmont. I've never felt out of place at any of these spots, always a nice mix of folks.

There are a few other places that are escaping me at the moment. It sucks getting old!!!

In addition to those places, many of the WEST 6th street venues (west of Whole Foods) have the older crowd -- Opal Devines (all locations, actually), Mother Egan's, Elephant room, etc. Also off-sixth clubs like the Draught Horse, Dog & Duck, Bull McCabe's, Gingerman (ok, a bit of theme going here)...

Also as mentioned before, you'll see the over-40 crowd well represented on the Ladybird Lake running trail, on the lake itself rowing/paddling, mountain biking, and at the many festivals and events. Besides meetup.com, you should look into the local groups for all those activities: Running classes at Runtex, Austin Ridge Riders mountain bike group, clubs for hiking, paddling, etc that I can't remember the names for...

Keep in mind that a typical 40 year old here might look, dress and act like a 25-30 year old.. especially the ones that are always exercising... not always a bad thing!
