Default Affordable Home on a Lake?

Are there any affordable homes on a lake left in/near Austin? I was just searching out of curiosity and was surprised to see so many multi-million dollar homes on the lake! (lake travis etc..) Any nice lake front property less than a million?

Canyon Lake south of Austin is probably the most affordable lake near Austin. Lake Buchanan is more affordable alos, but quite far from Austin. Do a Google Search for either and you'll learn more.

not since the dellionaires found out about it. Almost every home will be Millions unless you find a condo. Look at Canyon and Buchanan but if you're gonna buy, do it quick, because it's starting to go up there, too.

If you want cheap lake front, it's as close as you're gonna get. It's not really that far - less than an hour. It takes that long to get to parts Lago Vista on Lake Travis.

thanks for the tip. i will explore that option. i'm really just looking out of curiosity. out here in CA you need big big $ to live lakeside. search for homes on Lake Tahoe - it's a joke. $10mm+ is not unusual.

I disagree with the posters below

You can buy a lakefront lot on lake LBJ (constant level) for 100K. You can buy a lakefront lot in lago vista (lake travis) for as low as 80K. Although some speculators seem to be driving up the prices. The key issue is flood plain, but you can build on stilts and be fine.

If you are willing to spend 150K for a lot you have pretty good choices. If you are willing to spend 300K you can get some of the best lots.

Moderator cut: realtor site

Austinhomesearch.com Home Page is the definitive source for homes for sale. You can search for lots that are waterfront only. Right now there arent that many, but in the spring the market will open up.
