The traffic actually seems ok, at least for now. There's a new light in and out of the HEB.

I made it to the HEB yesterday and like someone else said, I wasn't hugely impressed with it. It's huge and new so I assumed it would have a Central Market cafe but it was just a pretty standard HEB. Still, will be useful to have.

Default Why no announcement?

Isn't it a little strange there was no "Grand Openning" announcement? Unless I missed it.

Central Market is a high-end, specialty HEB grocery store which has broad variety of high-grade specialty items and organic produce, geared toward urban foodies with a cafe/restaurant, cooking classrooms with performance space.

To be honest, in Hays County (I know about Wimberley), but I never gathered Dripping Springs was home to many urban food connoisseurs.

No bulk section!
Items that I regularly purchase are higher then any HEB I have been to.
No electronic weigh and print for fruit and vegetables.
It almost seems like a store that they would have built 10 years ago.

They do have a gas station and last night it was $2.39 for regular. Pretty decent.

With that being said, I will continue to make the trek into Austin and hit up my usual stops at Central Market and the Heb's and Slaughter & Brodie.
Sorry you were disappointed. Just curious- why do you like the electronic and print scales? More work for you!

I like bulk sections b/c they allow you to buy as much or as little as you need. Still you have to be picky. The Fiesta near me has customers that treat the bulk section like an all-you-can-eat hand-grab-and-go bar. And that's before their children start sticking their hands in the bins.

This is one of the main reasons I like Central Market. I buy my spices as I need them. Spices generally run $3-8 for a tiny bottle but I can get what I need from the bulk section for like $0.05-0.10. Don't have to worry about it losing flavor with age and I don't need to buy more than I need. I especially like not collecting expensive and rarely used spices that just sit in the pantry for years unused. Doesn't work well if you cook on a whim but since we plan our weekly menu, it works great for us.

I'm a bit iffy on the bulk items- same reasons- lots of hands going in and out. But generally, I'm fine with them. I had questions about the scale and tag thing. I hate those.

I know many people in Dripping Springs who enjoy good food. Why wouldn't they?

Did you think people in DS just eat Wonder bread?

I don't think urban vs. semi-rural is meaningful at all when trying to predict how much people care about their food. The people I know in Dripping Springs moved there because they want more space, good schools, and lower home prices. Most of them work in Austin.
