We moved our family here about 6 months ago. So far we LOVE IT here in HSB. Yes, it is about a 15 min. drive into Marble Falls to go to the store and to find alot of stores but it is more than worth it in our opinion. We are currently looking for a house to buy. Marble Falls, Cottonwood Shores, Kingsland, Granit Sholes and Burnet are all alot cheaper to live in but you dont get the beauty anywhere other than HSB. In my opinion if you are looking for a cheaper place to live, look on the opposite side of the highway from the lake. Obviously not being lake front, right next to the resort or having a golf course in your back yard is cheaper. If you want anything water front, on a golf course or with a view you will pay a good price for it.

We live next to the Slick Rock golf course. We might hear a plane maybe once every couple months. Honestly, unless your house is totally silent and your listening for them you really cant hear anything. We have never been woke up or disturbed by a plane.

So far we have yet to see flooding. Everyone does talk about the lack of rain in the last two years though. The low water crossings have been flooded out once since we got here and other than the golf course being a little flooded around the pong areas and the river that flows through it rushing through we have not seen anything that would bother homes or people with common since.

We owned a "summer/weekend" place there and then retired to it (that had been our plan when we purchased it). Although the humidity was a bit less than Houston we found we didnt' enjoy it as much as we thought. We were a block from the golf course but I found that being a member one place meant that I played there too much and was missing a lot of great golf in the area.

I didn't find the restaurants to be very expensive although I do know that a lot of our favorites have closed in the last year and a half since we left. I found TX to be an expensive place to live and left it for Colorado. Our water, electricity and trash collection here are less than our water bill was there. Our car insurance is about 60% of what it was in TX and our homeowner's insurance is now about 1/3 of what we paid there.

I have a friend who lives out there for the last 2 years. Normal, average Joes house and has it on the Market for 8 months. Him and his family just want more of a young family oriented place, not exactly a strong point in a retirement community.

My Dad bought a lot to build on in HSB but ended going across the river to buy a home in the gated community of Meadowlakes. Meadowlakes is not Marble falls but is right beside Marble falls. My Sister bought a couple condos in HSB but later migrated over to a golf course house in Meadowlakes. I remember HSB as being a very pretty place with great views.
