Alamo Drafthouse - Circle C!!
I guess I've been living under a rock because I just found out about the Alamo Drafthouse that will be built at the corner of Mopac and Slaughter. As a 78749 dweller this is great news to me! Although I am a little worried about the additional retail that will surround it. We do want an Alamo but don't need anymore shopping strip centers.. there are enough vacant ones as it is. Does anyone else know what other places will be opening up in that new shopping center? Also what do residents of Circle C and Villages of Western Oaks, Meridian, Sendera, Shady Hollow etc. think about this? To me it's great news..

I'm wondering if anyone else thinks the Alamo Drafthouse and shopping center at Mopac and Slaughter is a good or bad thing? Surprised that more Circle C residents haven't posted. I also went ot the Circle C neighborhood owners boards, and nobody's talking about it there, either. This is a huge deal that will really change the feel of the neighborhood. Personally I think it's a good thing, because I love the Alamo but the traffic will definitely increase.

I live in Meridian and follow the new retail developments closely. The Drafthouse shopping center, Parkside Village is going to be in one word, FABULOUS. Many of us are excited it is coming, Circle C residents pushed for it. There are the "save our springs alliance" people who will whine and whine about it. Retail drives up housing values. The development is going to be very tasteful and have wonderful restaurants. There is room for retail, many restaurants and an office building. I'm excited about it. If you don't like it, then you should just not go there. Here's the link for more info. Also, 34th Street Cafe's Mexican restaurant Santa Rita Cantina will be replacing the Nuevo Leon in Escarpment Village by HEB. This is great news too.
Alamo should be done by January 2010.

I think it's nice to have more options closer by -- but I'm in Granada Hills so the increased traffic doesn't affect me.

Not sure on number of screens, but it is going to be the largest and best Alamo drafthouse, they are using it as a model for future locations.

It's scheduled to be completed in January of 2010, that is if they start this month.

Honestly, I was a little disappointed to see the sign there the last coupe of days and was hoping that it wasn't being placed on the corner of slaughter and Mopac where the sign was. There is already so much development there and it seems like the green space is disappearing. I like the Alamo drafthouse, at least the original one (haven't been to the others - is it true the original closed down?) but at the cost of open space, I am not a big fan of it.
