I do not think that the city prohibits it. I know a pet pig that lives in Travis Heights, and you can keep chickens and even goats in much of the city. There might be some lot size restrictions. Are you in an HOA? That would be a bigger obstacle.
good luck!

Funny question, I actually lived in an apartment complex in which a neighbor owned a pet pig, in north Austin off Great Hills Trail. I think they're completely legal to own, and act under the same rules as a dog would. (Keep them on a leash if not well trained, and unfortunately, you've got to pick up their poop!)
I've recently moved to central Austin, haven't seen any pigs, but wouldn't be surprised if I saw one.

You can have them only if you share the kabasa. Oh, and it has to be BBQ'd.

Don't see it as a problem. My neighborhood has goats, roosters and peacocks. In fact, seems to me that a good pig would make a better neighbor than some people

Well, my comment was disrespectful and I'm sorry. I have a tendency to open-mouth-insert-foot. And I can't delete the disrespectful evidence so hopefully you'll accept my apology Roy. A pig as a pet is no laughing matter. I'm sorry, I can't stop laughing. But I know I'd be mad if someone wanted to eat my dog or cat.

well, oldtoiletsmkgdflrpots, methinks your political correctness deserves an "A+" but sheeesh, i was rofl -- and for the record, a pig for a pet is out of the ordinary and would lend itself to some light hearted commets -- let it go --
