Susan,
My husband and I currently building a home in Sun City. Closing is scheduled for Aug. 31. The new club house is definitely in the process of being built. We visited our future home and checked out the clubhouse progress. The slab/foundation is done and the building should proceed as promised. One of the reasons we decided on Sun City was the health care options available. My husband needed a cardiologist and internist. We had no problem finding him good ones. I will also be checking out the recommendations I was given for obgyn doctors. We were visiting Georgetown when my husband became ill, so we have first-hand experience with St. David's Georgetown Hospital and the doctors associated with it. We were pleased with their care.

Hello, Christine, and thanks ...
for your post. It's nice to hear that the club house is in progress and that the slab is poured ... the drawings we saw looked great.
I'm also encouraged to hear that you and your husband decided on Sun City in part due to the health care available in the area; but I'm sorry to hear that your husband became ill while there ... I hope he's feeling much better. I think finding good doctors is very important; and as we didn't want to have to drive to Austin for doctor appointments, your post was very welcome news.
The building process at Sun City seems to be made very easy with the limited selections ... which we did like. We looked at another 55+ community, not in Georgetown, but the choices were overwhelming in the number of things to be decided. If we buy there fairly soon, we've already decided on our selections based on the current availability of floor plans, interior packages, exterior colors, etc.
Congratulations on your new home's August 31 scheduled closing. It will be here before you know it! I'd love to hear how your final walk-through goes as well as your experience as a new Del Webb homeowner. The people we talked to there seemed very pleased with their homes.
Best of luck to you with your move!
Susan

Response to Sun City questions
Hello! I am fairly new in Sun City, we have lived here almost a year. All the facilities are great. Sometimes the fitness room is quite busy, especially in January, but I never had to wait very long for a machine. I love the yoga classes and the water aerobics. When the new facility opens, I am sure there will be no waiting for a machine or equipment.
As far as doctors... I had my hip replaced in December. I went online and found the doctor I wanted. He did an awesome job and I was up walking in a few days without a walker. I have a wonderful general doctor here that spent a good hour with me in a consultation asking about medical history.
I know you will love living here too.

Thanks for the post ...
It's always great to hear from someone who lives there and can speak from experience. I would hope that the new fitness center, when completed, will relieve any overcrowding although everyone will probably want to use the "new" fitness center!
Finding a new doctor can be a real challenge after a move, but it sounds as if you've found good ones, and that's wonderful.
Thanks again for your post.

You are so welcome. I really do love it here! Some complain about the rules, but I don't mind them. I like having deed restrictions, I wouldn't move to a place without them. My neighbors have been fantastic and supportive. I think you get out of life, what you put into it. So, I think I have a great life. Kelly

I just ran across this forum. Yeahhh! I am actually going to Sun City Georgetown 20-21 Sep (staying in one of the cottages). My daughter lives in Austin and I love the area. On a fluke during my last visit in May we went to Sun City. Felt like a resort. I am so pleased to hear all the positive comments. I will check out the new homes and also resales. So many pros and cons both ways. I have done extensive research (meaning I sit on by butt in front of my computer way too many house a day) on the current resale listings. Just me, so I don't want anything too large. Again, thanks for all the positive input. Diane

I hope you love it as much as I do.
I hope you enjoy your stay... make sure you visit the square and sample some wines. If you know what kind of food you want, send me a message and I shall let you know some good places my husband and I have eaten at here. There are many to choose from. You mentioned it is like a resort, and I feel the same way. It's a good thing the weather has cooled off and not in the 100's. That was a fluke so I hear, but it was so dang hot you could fry and egg on your car. Have an awesome time ! Kelly

I missed the wine! Rats! I really enjoyed my 2 day stay there. Did find a house on Monument Hill Trail, area 41 I think.
Yes, please, pass on good places to eat.
